The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Iran strongly condemns this position and considers it necessary to clearly present several points in this regard before public opinion.

First: Reza Pahlavi, who burns in the illusion of attaining power in the day after the Islamic Republic, with these statements is already thinking about playing a role in imitating his predecessors. Reza Shah, his grandfather, relying on the bayonet and a policy of forced assimilation, systematically suppressed the cultural, linguistic, and political identity of the non-Persian nations of Iran. Mohammad Reza Shah, his father, also, with military power and the intelligence apparatus of SAVAK, drowned in blood every voice demanding equality among the Kurdish, Azerbaijani, Arab, Baluch, and Turkmen peoples. Today’s threat by Reza Pahlavi is not a new position, but a reproduction of the same violent policy that his father and grandfather implemented in practice.

Second: Reza Pahlavi currently lacks any real political base and popular organizational structure. What keeps him in the media is massive investment in media propaganda and the windfall wealth that over decades has gone into this family’s pocket from the public assets of the people of Iran. Nevertheless, even this degree of his powerlessness has not prevented him from issuing threats. One must ask: if he comes to power tomorrow, what will he do? Someone who today, without having any lever of power, calls on the army to suppress political parties will undoubtedly, if he reaches power, surpass his father and grandfather in this regard.

Third: The right of nations to self-determination is a fundamental principle of international law that has been recognized in the Charter of the United Nations and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This right, without any ifs or buts, means the freedom of nations to choose their political future, including separation and the formation of an independent state. Terms such as “territorial integrity” and “separatism” over the past one hundred years in Iran have been used not as legal concepts, but as ideological weapons of chauvinistic nationalism to suppress any freedom-seeking and rights-seeking movement. In fact, what is called “territorial integrity” is nothing but the continuation of the domination of the ruling nation over the oppressed nations. The Communist Party of Iran rejects this instrument of repression in whatever form it is used.

Fourth: “Separatism” is not a crime. In those same Western democracies in which Reza Pahlavi was raised and from whose support he benefits, pro-independence parties operate legally. The Scottish National Party has representatives in the British Parliament; the Catalan independence movement in Spain, despite pressure from the central government, continues its legal activity; in Belgium and Canada as well, parties with similar demands operate freely. Calling on the army for a military confrontation with political parties that struggle for national rights is not only in contradiction with the standards of democracy that Reza Pahlavi claims, but is also an incitement to crimes against humanity.

Fifth: The Communist Party of Iran and its Kurdistan organization, Komala, have clearly stated their position on this matter in the program “Popular Sovereignty”: “We recognize the right of all nations inhabiting Iran to determine their own destiny, that is, their freedom up to complete separation. At the same time, we seek the free and voluntary union of all nations inhabiting the geography of Iran and believe that such a union is in the interest of the working and toiling masses.” This position is based on a firm belief in the slogan of real freedom and equality. We believe that only a union is sustainable that is based on free choice, not on coercion and the bayonet. Tomorrow’s Iran must be the free and equal home of all the nations that live in it; not the bloody legacy that the Pahlavis built with repression and fire and that the Islamic government has continued.

Long live the right of nations to self determination

Long live the solidarity of workers and toilers of all nationalities of Iran

Central Committee of the Communist Party of Iran

February 26, 2026

[6
19,24,10,11,23,9

post-87","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-statements","tag-announcement","tag-communist-party-of-iran","tag-cpi","tag-kurdistan","tag-reza-pahlavi","tag-statement
https://cpiran.net/english/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/1000111678.jpg",1920,1920,false
https://cpiran.net/english/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/1000111678-150x150.jpg",150,150,true
https://cpiran.net/english/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/1000111678-300x300.jpg",300,300,true
https://cpiran.net/english/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/1000111678-768x768.jpg",640,640,true
https://cpiran.net/english/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/1000111678-1024x1024.jpg",640,640,true],"1536x1536":["https://cpiran.net/english/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/1000111678-1536x1536.jpg",1536,1536,true],"2048x2048":["https://cpiran.net/english/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/1000111678.jpg",1920,1920,false
https://cpiran.net/english/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/1000111678.jpg",80,80,false
https://cpiran.net/english/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/1000111678.jpg",225,225,false
https://cpiran.net/english/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/1000111678.jpg",715,715,false
https://cpiran.net/english/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/1000111678.jpg",500,500,false
https://cpiran.net/english/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/1000111678-1024x1024.jpg",1024,1024,true
https://cpiran.net/english/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/1000111678-540x340.jpg",540,340,true
https://cpiran.net/english/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/1000111678.jpg",250,250,false
admin
["GET
